As some of you know, last week I made a quick jaunt to Nottingham to do some preparatory work Sarah Kettley and Yann Seznec ahead of going to Boston next weekend for the TEI conference at MIT, Boston. Basically, it's a project involving stretch sensors weaved into a shirt that I wear to play; it maps my movements to sound, and is amazingly fun to play (any cellists out there, please ignore my posture: you have to do craaaaazy things to control the effects!) So, I leave on the 23rd, but this week is going to be really busy - it's my last completely "free" week, so I'm still packing in the hours, learning as much repertoire as I can before my usual normal schedule resumes..! I'm really looking forward to going to the Wigmore Hall on Wednesday (my birthday..) to hear Nico Muhly and the Britten Sinfonia - should be brilliant! I'm at the TEI the conference from 25-27th and have a few meetings, but if anyone out there is in the Boston area and wants to meet up, invite me to a tea party or just has a tip on things to do in the city, let me know! The last time I was in Boston, March 2009, I was playing a concert at Trinity Church. Time's really flown by since then..!
